Friends the journey of life..

17 years earlier, on 22^nd September 1994, a TV show was launched on NBC by David crane & Marta Kauffman. This show did not only become popular, but also it raised the standard of TV shows. The last season of this show was aired in 2004. But for last 7 years, no other TV show could fill the gap created by the exit of ‘Friends’. This show defined friendship in a whole a new way. It shared the values & principles of life in such a way, that it touched the hearts of millions of people living in all corners of the world.

Friendship is a unique relation. It connects people from different backgrounds with a bond of love. ‘Friends’ has been sharing that love for last 17 years. The actors in this show have lived their roles in each & every episode. That is why; you can remember each of the character with its specifications. Sarcasm of Chandler Bing, Obsession of Monica Geller, Stupidity of Joey Tribbiani, ‘Poor-guy’ Ross Geller, weirdness of Phoebe Buffay & enthusiasm of Rachael Green.

Serial starts with ‘the pilot episode’. Ross, Monica, Phoebe, Chandler & Joey are living & earning in New York. Rachael arrives at the Central perk after leaving her fiancé Barry & moves into Monica’s apartment with her. At that time, Monica gives a beautiful message through a dialogue. She says, Rachael, welcome to the real world, it sucks, but you’re gonna like it!   This single sentence teaches so many things.

When you’re a child, your mom & dad take care of you. But as you grow up & become an adult, the world which has been so supportive till now, becomes very harsh. You have to earn your bread & butter. You have to struggle in the world to prove your value. It surely sucks, but that is the real thrill of life. The joy of proving ourselves worth is the ultimate joy. 'Friends' reveals itself beautifully on this single statement.

We always have a best buddy in our life, a person, with whom we share everything. The relation of Joey & Chandler somehow, is of that kind. They come together accidently, start living together in an apartment & become best buddies in a few days. The sarcasm, care & love for each other in their friendship are the important features of 'friends'. They live together in an apartment for five seasons, till Chandler & Monica decide to move in together. The crisp which is needed in a friendship is perfectly shown in Chandler-Joey relation.

Life is never as simple as it is shown in movies & books. There are no happy endings in real life. Because, life is not as easy as it looks. It has more pain & tears than smiles & laughs. 'Friends' explains this. No matter how genuine you are, how well-behaved you are, you never know, what life will offer you. Life is a very big surprise. But, we need a hand of support, a shoulder to cry on during the journey of life.

The last stanza of the title song of 'friends' explains the truth. It says, 'it’s like you’re always stuck in second gear, well, it hasn’t been your day your week, your month or even your year, but I’ll be there for you, cause, you’re there for me too.' That is what a friend needs to hear from you & you need to hear from a friend. What else do we need? :)

'Friends' obviously got the success that it deserved throughout the 10 years, 1994-2204. Sometimes I feel friends is not just a TV serial, it is an epic, It has a message for all the coming generations. The transformation of the teenagers into the responsible adults without the loss of fun & enthusiasm is how I will define friends. Today, the series becomes 17 years old. I congratulate the whole team of 'friends' for such a beautiful work which will always remain as the milestone in the Television industry.
