Whatever I’m going to say, just think about it for a while. Let’s assume that you really become one of the richest people in the world some day. You have a very nice house where luxuries are endless. You own a big car which is only in the dream of most of the people. Your bank balance is in seven figures. You are one of the most successful people in your city. The keys of your success are in your hands. You know your future is very much secured. You are not at all dependent. At that point of time, you reveal your true inner self. Because, by then you won’t need any ladder or support to get to the top.
Most of the people are pure & uncorrupt in life because they never had a chance to be corrupt or characterless. But we can’t say whether these people are successful in life or not. Because definition of character is, ‘When you are forced to compromise on your values & principles; but instead of compromising, you stick to them & create your future.’ That is real character.
When we don’t have any power or money, we have to be good in life. There is no option, other than to be humble. But when we are at the top, all the options are open for us. We can choose our behaviour. Nobody is there to judge us. At that point, it becomes important to judge ourselves. It is important to ask yourself some questions. Am I still following the values & principles that brought me here? Is the changing time making me careless? Are the people around me unhappy with my behaviour?
No matter how big you go in life, it is important to keep your feet on the ground
& to preserve your values in heart. Compromising with them is like challenging the good in you which brought you to the current stage. It is like insulting the principles which were the sources of motivation & inspiration for you in your bad times. In other words, compromising with your values is like rejecting your existence, because they are integral & homogeneous part of your life.
Money was never bad. Most of the people blame money for disintegration of values. But it is a white lie. Money never changes you. In fact, if it is earned in the ideal way, it gives you tremendous joy. It can change your lifestyle.
It becomes bad when its value diminishes, when you try to use it for a purpose which is not ideal, when you try to kill values with it. Even if you have lots of money; learn to respect the values, because only values have the potential to make a person rich.
When you don’t have status, nobody expects good behaviour from you, because nobody cares. But when you achieve something in life, people today also believe that the good qualities in you have taken you there. Respect their belief and show those qualities & values at the top also. Because, if you don’t do that, it will be impossible to stay up there for long.
