Get smarter

I was chatting with one of my friends yesterday. We know each other for past three years. She used to be very emotional & sensitive, caring about everybody, sharing her affection with everybody. She never cared about what she’ll get in return. But, this sensitivity was very suffocating for her. It affected her life. And then she decided to come out of it. She did it & today her progress has been amazing. The change that occurred in her was surprising for all of her friends including me. I always wanted to know about that secret. And yesterday she revealed it to me. She said, “The investment of interest you do in your relations can be less effective, but if you do the same investment in your work, you get a lot of success.”

I was astonished by that response & I realized that whatever she said was hundred percent true. We always want to be in the good books of all the people. We do every possible thing to be the centre of attraction. But the possibility of getting the desired results is low. Because people may not perceive the same thing, you wanted to do or say. Because of that, misunderstandings occur & relationships come to an end.
As somebody has said, ‘Relationships are like sand held in your hand, if you hold them too tightly or too possessively, they’ll slip away from your hand.’

The same thing was happening with my friend & it also happens with you, me & all of us. We focus so much on the unwanted things & spoil everything. Some things are out of our control. You should agree with this. We can not make people like us. We can not beg for their attention. All we can do is change ourselves. Be ourselves.

I tried to apply the second half of her sentence in my life & got excellent results. I put the same interest in my work & got ultimate job satisfaction. I got an everlasting spirit of positivity. I felt confidence in every part of my body & that helped me indirectly to repair my relationships. In fact, without any efforts those wounds got healed. People started taking interest in what I was doing. At that time I remembered the quote from 3 idiots. ‘Don’t pursue success, pursue excellence. Success will come guaranteed.’

Being smart doesn’t mean being something extra-ordinary. In fact, it means being very much ordinary. When we try to act smart, we become fools. So don’t pretend to be smart. Don’t waste your time on unnecessary things, it is precious. Pursue excellence in your chosen walk of life. Try to get better day by day.
You can decide your future, just by shifting your focus from trash to real work. Get smarter! J
