We set goals to keep us focused on the important things in our life. Personal goals, career goals, spiritual goals, family goals, health goals etc. sometimes we set out with great enthusiasm to reach these goals, but occasionally there are circumstances that set us back. Some within our reach, some not. But there is a wonderful feeling of peace when I know in my heart that I’ve done my best. Because, win or lose, I know that I’m more prepared for my next battle in life. When we have done our best, we can await the results in peace.
I was preparing for a presentation with my colleagues in Dehradun. The month of December was extremely cold. We were preparing for the fiercest battle of our life. The battle of thoughts, the battle of strategies. Everybody was inspired by the same motive. Everybody was aiming for the 1st rank. We were doing our best. Each & every student of our group was doing his work with total dedication because in the competition there wasn’t any place for regrets.
Our presentation was good enough to get the loud applause. We were happy with whatever we did. The result of the competition was after a few days. We didn’t get any rewards or trophies as we stood 7th in the competition. But we were not sad, we were not disappointed. Because we knew that we had done our best. We could relax after the competition, because there were no regrets in our minds. It was the most peaceful period of my life. Because, winning or losing was not important there. We were happy, satisfied & regret-free.
Live with the intention, walk to the edge, Listen hard, Practice wellness, play with abandon, laugh, choose with no regrets, appreciate your friends, continue to learn, do what you love, live as if this is all there is.
Committing to the excellence is not an act, it is an attitude. The attitude that is captured in three little words, And then some….
These three words are the difference between average people & top people in most of the fields of life.
The top people always do what is expected…. And then some.
They’re thoughtful of others; they are considerate & kind…. And then some.
They meet their responsibilities fairly & squarely…. And then some.
They’re good friends & helpful neighbors…. And then some.
They can be counted on in an emergency…. And then some.
I’m thankful for people like this, for they make the world a better place. Their spirit of service is summed up in these three little words…
And then some……
