You must know how to accept rejection & reject acceptance.

Today I’m going to tell you a short story. Whenever I recall it or think about it, I feel really sad & it ruins my entire day. But today, regarding to this issue, I have to mention the story. When I was in Junior college, I had a friend who was very simple & peace loving. He was from a slum area near our college. His dedication & intelligence was so appealing that he was the most favorite student of all the teachers. However, he never interacted with others. He was too shy to take the initiative & to break the ice between the conversations.

One of our teachers tried to solve this problem. Because she knew that interactions & conversations are very necessary to move further in life. Therefore, she introduced him to the other scholar students in our class. However, she did not pay attention to the further progress. The other guys did not like a slum-guy participating in their group. According do them, it was something gross & dirty. They started torturing him. They teased him in front of other people & again he was too shy & reserved to complain against them.

After a few days, a gang of goons, who were also from the same slum area but with different intentions, approached him. They told him that this was unfair & he should beat them up for this non-justice. At first, he ignored them; hoping to see some change in his batch mates. But the condition was getting worse day by day.
One day, in the overflow of emotions, he told those goons to beat them up. They were only waiting for the signal. With a several hockey-sticks & bats, the ‘scholars’ were beaten up severely. The injuries were fatal. College took this issue seriously. And along with those goons they rusticated that poor guy too. Today, he works in a hotel as a waiter; he has lost his faith in education forever.

Who is responsible for his condition? The scholars that rejected him? The goons which accepted him? You’ll say that both of these factors are responsible for his condition. But I think, He is responsible for his condition. He could not decide the difference between good & bad. He was driven by emotional motives. He could not slap the scholars & move away from their group. That was his fault & he will regret it, I’m sure.

The difference between right & wrong always differs according the maturity of the people. World does not run according to your likings. You have to live & struggle instead of the adversities. If something goes against your will, if something is annoying you, if something is disturbing the peace of your mind, reject it. And if you don’t associate yourself with something & still you get bound to that association against your will, reject the acceptance.

Narayan Murthy is the best example for this situation. He was rejected to go to IIT by his financial conditions. He accepted the rejection. But did not lose his hopes to be a great engineer, to earn money. He rejected the acceptance of all other bad things in the world & concentrated on his dreams. He never compromised on his vision & aims. He started Infosys & became its chairman. He is today an idol for many entrepreneurs & engineers.

It doesn’t matter what the conditions are & what life offers you. You can’t blame anyone for your loss. Because, you are responsible for whatever you are in life.
You have the right to reject & to accept. But you should be smart enough to know what to reject & what to accept. You should have the vision & wisdom to decide the things in your life. Remember, the keys of the fortune, lie in your hand. Open the locks carefully.
